Hertford Road HODDESDON Hertfordshire EN11 9BX UNITED KINGDOM
VolkerFitzpatrick has developed and operated one of the UK’s largest concrete batching and slipform paving fleets. This has supported self-delivery of numerous airfield projects. Our dedicated airfields team has extensive experience of delivering stand, taxiway and runway works under the security, operational and logistical constraints of live airfields, and of meeting the demanding specification requirements of both civil and military sectors. We have fully resourced in house paving teams enabling complete control of quality, safety and outputs, who have completed over 2,000,000 square metres of airport paving in the last 10 years alone.
Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) works are undertaken utilising our fully skilled and experienced paving teams supported by our own fleet of specialist Gomaco and Vogele paving and Elba batching plants. In addition, we have significant general project management experience. This includes delivery of over 13m sqft of shed and storage style building and major infrastructure projects encompassing major earthworks, building and shed type structures, drainage, reinforced concrete structures and surfacing, worth in the region of £584m.
By maintaining in-house control over critical activities we offer guaranteed quality and value engineering solutions to our clients.
For tender scenarios and future framework opportunities, we seek to utilise our in-house capability to deliver the works. Generally we self-deliver the following:- - Provision of Concrete
- Lay Lean Mix Concrete
- Lay Pavement Quality Concrete
Thereafter we engage with our tried and tested supply chain that are best placed to provide the works with the necessary experience and expertise. We assess the scope of works in each work order and select a pool of suitable suppliers with suitable experience, expertise and available resource. Each will have undergone an extensive selection process that ensures they have an exemplary safety record, are financially secure, have the requisite management and supervisory credentials and availability, a proven track record in delivering similar schemes and drawing from our database of previous performance. Wherever possible we seek to engage with local businesses and in particular to provide opportunities for local SME’s so that the project provides additional benefits to the local community. Through our supply chain strategy, we: - seek suppliers with whom we have established relationships in delivering airfield infrastructure
- follow a selection process the seeks best value, recognising the risk profile of each package
- use existing bulk material suppliers to support site-batching of a proven fully compliant PQC mix
- support suppliers and their personnel in working in the same manner as for self-delivered works
- engage supplier staff through our behavioural change programme and weekly visualisation
- review supplier performance – informally daily and formally monthly – to secure project delivery
